A Louisiana man has filed a lawsuit on 19th February in Jefferson County District Court against Marquette Transportation Co. Gulf-Inland, claiming he suffered injuries while working as a seaman on board the Mary Kay. The complaint filed by Timothy J. Rogers states he sustained injuries to his back and body while working for Marquette on January 3. The lawsuit doesn’t specify how he was injured. Rogers blames Marquette for negligence and unseaworthiness. According to the complaint, Mary Kay was not in a seaworthy condition when Rogers was working on it. The lawsuit states Rogers incurred medical costs; experienced physical pain and suffering; lost earning capacity; suffered mental anguish, physical impairment and physical disfigurement as a result of the injury. Rogers is seeking a judgment exceeding the minimum jurisdictional limits of the court, in addition to pre- and post-judgment interest, attorney’s fees, costs and any other relief to which he may be entitled. Judge Milton Shuffield, 136th District Court will be presiding over the case.
