BECKLEY -- The West Virginia Attorney General's Office gave the TRIDENT Task Force $50,000 Wednesday at the Raleigh County airport. The money comes from the settlement with Purdue Pharma, the maker of the drug OxyContin. TRIDENT members said this money will help support the organization's drug awareness and prevention programs. "This will be an opportunity to perhaps purchase some additional equipment and other types of expenditures that are necessary to support that operation," says Fayette County Sheriff Bill Laird. In the settlement, Purdue Pharma agreed to pay the state $10 million dollars over four years.
