The estate of a woman who died Dec. 22, 2007 is suing Kenwood nursing home claiming that negligent care caused her to suffer both body and mind injuries and to incur medical expenses before her death.

The suit was filed on March 25 in Madison Circuit Court by Ricky D. Hamilton, the husband of Kimberly Hamilton. Ricky is the administrator of the estate of his wife.

The suit states that Kimberly was admitted to Kenwood on Aug. 3, 2007. According to the lawsuit, Kenwood deviated from acceptable standards of care, failed to keep a safe environment at the nursing home. However, the suit doesn’t explain the condition.

Kenwood, which is a part of the Richmond Health and Rehabilitation Complex, is owned by Extendicare of Wisconsin.

In addition to punitive damages, Ricky is seeking a jury trial to recover legal as well as medical expenses.
