Thousands of serious injuries and deaths occur in America each year due to motor vehicle collisions and accidents. Sadly, many of these injuries and deaths are preventable and occur because the automobile has defective parts. One of the most fatal events that occurs during accidents is the throwing or ejection of a passenger from the car or truck. The distance that the passenger is thrown and the impact often cause fatal injuries. Ejection of the passenger can occur due to defective door latches that do not properly remain closed during a collision and allow the door to open and the passenger to be thrown from the vehicle. Defective seatbacks can cause a driver to loose control of the vehicle. They can also cause passengers to impact with objects or additional passengers in the rear seat when the front seatback caves in or fails. Even more serious is the possibility of a defective seatback allowing the passenger to be ejected from the car completely. Defective seatbelts can open spontaneously during a collision, failing to properly restrain the passenger and contributing to major injuries and death. Airbags can fail to open, providing the passengers with no protection from impact with the windshield or other dangerous parts of the vehicle during a collision. These and many more defective vehicle parts contribute to thousands of injuries and deaths each year. Automobile manufacturers have tried to cover up defects and failed to recall automobiles with defective parts. Their responsibility to produce safe vehicles is completely abandoned in favor of profitability.
